The Journal That Talks Back is there for you, only you
A Toronto-based start-up had a brilliant idea: to provide an accessible platform for you and your mental health. The Journal That Talks Back™ is an opportunity and a space where your worries can be talked through and managed at affordable prices and times.
How many times, especially as a creative, have you wondered how effective and productive could be to have a platform that listens to you and helps you navigate your journey? Besides your community of creatives, is there a professional way to lean on someone’s ears and let our worries out? Therapy is the answer, but how expensive can it be?
So yes, a single therapy session can cost even up to $250. The money is definitely well spent if that person offers you time with constructive and liberatory conversations. But money comes and goes (emphasis on the “goes”). The Journal That Talks Back™ can cover you for a whole month ($200) with unlimited journaling and coaching sessions aimed at providing near-24/7 support for online members everywhere. As the website points out, $200 is the equivalent of 7 Uber Eats orders or 30 bubble teas.
Users are paired with a certified coach responder who is trained to address difficulties in all areas of life — from mental wellness concerns to financial struggles to personal goals and aspirations.
Once you’re a member, you have access to the platform. In four steps, you get to talk to your designated coach. You will be encouraged to write down your current challenges, goals, and aspirations, and certified coaches reply in near-real-time with professional support. Unlike traditional coaching, counseling, or therapy, certified coach responders reply to messages quickly — often in under 24 hours.
The Pay It Forward Fund is a component of The Journal That Talks Back™ that uses five dollars from each monthly user subscription and puts it toward providing free services to those who cannot traditionally afford coaching, counseling, or therapy.
“Unlike coaching, counseling and therapy sessions, you can’t schedule a mental health breakdown,” says Jonathan Friedman, co-founder of The Journal That Talks Back™. “Our service is a response to that: we’re providing accessible, 24/7 coaching services for people from all walks of life — no matter what they’re going through.”
When it comes to protecting yourself and your creative journey, a healthy mental check is way more than needed and suggested. Visit The Journal That Talks Back™’s website and explore their offers and activities.
