WeBeat2020 Project
We’re approaching the end of January 2021, but I just can’t help thinking about the emotions that 2020 has put me on. Lots of emotions beat me up!
On New Year’s Eve, I met up with my friend Neriah to take part in his project at his own studio. The project, called #WeBeat2020, had the goal to represent through different faces the feelings and emotions of 2020. Since March 2020, my mental health has seen ups and downs, no matter how much I was able to find a nook of solace in my writing, reading, and creative activities. There were days I was happy and grateful. There were days I was sad and afraid. There were days I was confident and looking straight to the future, a better and much more stable one.
Now that my birthday is approaching (#KobeYear) I hope to reflect on other expressions in front of the camera, looking forward to a brighter future. I’ve accepted that fear will always be there, as much as sadness. Blue days are valid and they serve as motivational kicks. I can’t wait to be the successful person I’m supposed to be. In the meantime, I’ll collect as many pictures and moments as possible.
In this project, I also wanted to involve my boyfriend Brian. He plays hockey, that's why he's got his Mighty Ducks jersey and black puck. He got way more creative than me, wearing just a basic burgundy silk and a wool long-sleeve shirt. This was a cute project that got more than 10 models to participate. I'm manifesting much more collaborations and visual work for 2021, with (hopefully) more smiles and soft eyes in all of us!
